Greenberg, Uri Tzevi
(1894-1981)
   Israeli poet. He was born in Galicia and was taken as a child to Lemberg. After World War I he became a leader of a group of Yiddish expressionist poets. In 1924 he emigrated to Palestine, where he became a spokesman for the Revisionist movement. His Book of Incitement and Faith is an attack on the Jewish Agency's policy of self-restraint, and a defence of his conception of fighting Jewish youth; he supported underground movements that struggled against the British. He was a Herut member in the first Knesset (1949-51). After World War II he published poems about the destruction of European Jewry.
